Comrade Burtons - Cartographa Light Utility Vehicle

Comrade Burton Press Release

BDB are proud to present the newest addition to the vehicle fleets of the glorious RUSK forces. Designed for long distance mapping, observation and general reconnaissance, it shares many common components with other BDB designs. Designed for simple maintenance in the field, with robust engineering of components to guarantee a long service life, the Cartographa provides much needed autonomous operation. Powered by an efficient fuel cell, with electric drive to all wheels, with extensive storage capacity at the front of the vehicle, during testing our brave troops declared it a superb vehicle.

With protection against mines and other explosive attacks, and with excellent cross-country performance, the Cartographa will allow a crew of up to five troops to effortlessly complete their missions. A variety of weapons can be mounted in front of the multi-part roof hatch, which provides some protection for the exposed gunner. For operations where there is a reduced risk, the window shields can be removed, allowing much improved visibility, but maintaining crew protection thanks to the armoured glass.

Welcome to the Russian Empire....

Good day all

Ive been running my own campaign this past few months and its been around the Russian United States of Kirov System (Rusks) fight for Independence. An inter galactic war as it is. Also given that Ive a range of Neo sov vehicles coming out based on some very classic, yet wonderful (Im biased:))designs provide by Comrade Burton from the Buzzard Bureau and another line based on the next generation of Russian Designs by the again wonderful SirFjodin, I thought it might be a perfect time to also create some Imperialist Russians Infantry to. This way I can have two similar yet distinctive forces for my own civil war games, which I might add I can also provide to you.
Ill add that I'm also working on some background material for scenarios/campaigns that Ill be posting on my blog for others to use. Obviously many people have their own worlds and these forces will be quite distinctive to be counted as anything you chose for them :)

Anyhow, I'm rambling so Ill bring to you the first Imperial Russian forces APC. The Kurganet 40.

The Kurganet-40 APC is the latest Imperial Russian APC brought quickly into service the BTR290 series. It has a fully automated turret  and can carry 9 troops plus the Commander.
Several variations are also proposed including command, ambulance and Mobile Gun System.

Size is around 70x40x25mm .More information on the Infantry to follow soon

Comments welcome

thanks to SirFjodin and Comrade Burton :)

Нормович - Normovich Family added to the ranks

Today Канюк конструкторское бюро are proud to announce completion of Нормович (translates as Normovich), the superior family of wheeled exploration and combat vehicles. Available in the four configurations;
4 x 4 Single hull
6 x 6 Single hull
8 x 8 Articulated Double hull
10 x 10 Articulated Double hull
Equipped with dual Fuel Cell power plants, powering advanced technology electric motors dedicated to each wheel, the Нормович has the power to go anywhere. With large, heavy tread tyres, the Нормович can cope with all terrains, and being fully amphibious, will not be stopped by a mere lake or river. Production examples will soon be rolling out every day in large quantities. Amongst the first to be issued to our glorious RUSK regiments will be the specially designed 10 x 10 articulated, dual barrelled 120mm Mortar version, which will provide much needed rapid fire, high explosive, support.
After extensive testing, the Нормович will also be deployed to the brave Internal Security units protecting our challenging frozen borders. Designed to allow long periods of operation, each vehicle contains a central corridor allowing even the tallest of our courageous soldiers to stand tall and proud whilst braving the worst Arctic storms. The ability to move around, and not be cramped by a restricted environment, has been proven to allow deployments far longer than in the inferior vehicles of our enemies. Equipped with weapon and other systems to meet each specific mission challenge, along with classified armour protection, the Нормович is clearly superior to any challenger in it’s class. The fully enclosed articulated corridor between the two parts of the larger vehicles, allows full use of extended hull space, whilst not limiting the Нормович’s excellent multi-terrain mobility. As always it is an honour to provide our brave soldiers with the best we can give during this Supreme Patriotic War.
Press release issued on behalf of Comrade Burton, Director, Канюк конструкторское бюро, and authorisation is granted for distribution via all approved news channels under the control of the Media Relations Department of Armies Army.

Comments welcome :)

These will be off to the printer over the next week

Влади́мир Влади́мирович Пу́тин1 .....or in other words the Rusk MBT VPP1

This was an early Christmas present today from my rather splendid 3d sculptor Andrew Burton. I knew he was working on it, however after pulling a (very) late one as he was in the zone, he came up with the current Main Battle tank of the RUSK armed forces.

I bring to you the Владимир Владимирович Путин1 - code name VPP1.

Rather then base it on the T-72 series of tanks Andrew went down the IS family of tanks and I am rather pleased that he did!

It needs a couple of mounted HMGS (Ive a nice Dhsk) Im going to mount and point defense weapon,  however the thickness of the armor alone can stop most of its rivals guns!
As with the nature of Andrews modular work, this can also be combined with the BTR trailers and a possible flame tank option is on the cards. (I just thought of that:) )
Another option is to have Wing mounted 40mm Cannon as opposed to the Rockets.

Anyhow.....a great big hand to Andrew ....yet again!

comments welcome!

1st Shock Army in Action

 Rusk Squads DeBus

Some pics of my battle this evening. A recon squad of the first army have come up against an 'unknown' Enemy....More to follow

As a note to the BTR's. In the essence of costs and efficiency I am holding back the BTR 290 until January. The reason being that I simply I am charged an hour rate for the use of the resin casting machine. To utilise the half hour I need to fill it with molds. Until I have the BTR 160's and the Chinese APC I cant fill the mold. This is delaying the stock buildup. However...the other parts are currently being printed as we speak. They should be in the post this week or next. Giving its Christmas is probably Jan and then I can clean, master and mold. I will then have enough molds to fully run the machine and I will not have to wait until its filled. So.....Ill be able to build up stock on everything very quickly!

I hope that makes sense.....

Apologies for the delays. The copies I have so far, have some tiny print marks (very hard to pick up) and Ill use them in demo's etc.

cheers

                Q8:M8
1 FO Team
                Q8:M8
On call Light Mortar Salvo

Turn 1
The British Commonwealth forces had the initiative for the first turn and proceeded on foot to move to the objective town.
Rusk forces landed and deployed.

Turn 2

BC forces Heavy infantry moved swiftly towards objective, supported on flanks by infantry. Command Team entered building overlooking objective.
Rusk squad mounted up into APC and moved to engage
Rusk infantry and HQ moved in tactical stances to cover.

Turn 3
BC Heavy infantry took cover behind buildings and attempted to take sample . (This involved one figure rolling D6. Needed a 6 to take sample. Each turn +1 to succeed.)
Other squads positioned
Rusk BTR290 deployed and fires at HQ. Several hits. Amazingly all hits return to action with minor or no wounds. Thanks to medic!

Turn 4

BC FO team fire salvo at BTR. The BTR CRAM defend the APC and nearby troops successfully.
Rusk forces win reaction and open fire. Several BC are felled in return for little damage.
Rusks advance (A great start! )
………BC forces pass several wounds checks and return to action….(Next initiative and reaction is critical!)

Turn 5

BC win initiative….(bah!)
Several forces open Fire. Immediate rusk casualties. One entire squad down to a man, thanks to Heavy Infantry and Infantry combined fire. Causalities are not checked due to no nearby troops or medics.

Turn 6
Rusks open fire, causing several casualties, however all squads have at least one man standing.
Return fire causes several Rusk casualties. BTR is hit and causing immobilisation of vehicle.
BC forces successfully complete sample gathering

Turn 7
BTR destroyed taking several hits
Rusk Infantry squads decimated.
Return fire causes some casualties, most return to action
BC forces begin retreat. Heavy Infantry remain as rear guard
Medical checks prove hopeful to the Rusks. The HQ intervenes on downed squads

Turns 7 to 9
BC forces leave the field taking sample
Rusk Infantry forces direct fire against BC heavy infantry. All are hit on varying turns, however all recover using the internal medic resources the suits provide. Slowly however they start to loose numbers
Turn 10
All BC forces have left the board and the last remaining heavy infantry trooper is taken down. Rolling a 1 meaning he is dead. Several Rusk infantry have also been removed, however the Rusk Forces were firing with a full 10D per round of fire and the BC forces were in the open.

Summary

Several ranking comrades have been ‘removed’ ……
Operation сокол a failure. The sample was recovered by the BC forces.
The 3rd Shock Army Guards took 60% casualties and lost its BTR support.
British Commonwealth forces had minor casualties of its infantry squads. Heavy Infantry wiped out to a man
BC medical support proved to be the major difference plus the defensive and offensive power of the heavy infantry.
The Rusk infantry on mass proved a much more reliable solution. A full 10D firepower helped put down the Heavy Infantry troops. The problem was keeping them down, however bit by bit the Rusks whittled away the Heavies. A tactic I should have used at the start. That and the APC would have been nasty. As it was, the Rusk  fire and manoeuvre worked well against like for like troops, just not against heavies whom pulverised them! Different tactics for fighting between quality D6, D8 and D10 troops is the answer!
My contestant Mike from BlackHat used his forces well. Using the D10 troops as the vanguard and the infantry on support. The APC was taken out quite cheaply sadly for me, despite state of the art equipment! The BC AT weapon and the Fusion Gun on the Heavy Weapons packed quite a punch, even against the front armour of the BTR 270.
All in all a good outing for my troops :) More to follow in the next battle over Gliese 581 d

The BTR 160 - Versions

Hi all

Andrew mentioned to me he was a little delayed (a few days) on finishing the BTR160. I now know why.......

A marvelous looking set of extras! I'm really, very very pleased with this list of items! Hoping they go to print in the next day or two! Again big thanks Andrew!

BTR  160 /BTR290 Turret
BTR 160 ADV
BTR 160 Ambulance
BTR  160 APC
BTR 160 Engineers Vehicle
BTR160 Katyusha 300
BTR 160 Mortar vehicle
BTR 160 Repair and Recovery
BTR 160 Repair and Recovery  with Fuel dispenser
BTR 160 Repair and Recovery with Ammo Trailer
BTR 160 - SK 'Око ' Drone carrier
Fuel Bowser
Ammo Bowser

To add this is all modular! They all work of the base chassis and hull. With the exception of the trailer you can have what you want with anything you like! Really neat and hopefully plenty for people to like! Comments welcome

Probably a few more variants in turret weapons to follow to!

With the brilliance of the design, I am seriously thinking of how my Chinese and British APCS will look.

thanks
