Just isn't a mortar without a base plate, but yeah, that gun looks like it can shoot down some aircraft! I have a kit-bashed magazine fed mortar design around here somewhere...let me get a photo up of that.
I like this. A system like this could be operated by a remote operator well away from the mortar and only having to go to it for reloading. A series of these could be operated by a single operator with assistant.
This is a nice looking weapon- a bit different from the regular mortar appearance!

I was thinking more of shooting down arty shells, rockets etc
